Our story, your brave beginning
At Brave Beginnings, we believe every child deserves a confident start to secondary school. Discover what drives us and how we empower students and parents through this exciting transition.

Why Brave Beginnings began
Brave Beginnings grew from what I was seeing every day in my work with children.
I saw how exciting—but also overwhelming—the move to secondary school can be.
Many children were trying their best, but struggling with confidence, friendships, or organisation—often without the words to explain how they were feeling.
I also saw how much parents care, and how much they want to support their child—sometimes just needing a little guidance and reassurance.
I wanted to create something that would support both children and parents through this stage in a calm, practical, and encouraging way.
That’s how Brave Beginnings began.

My experience supporting young people
Supporting Young People in Real School Settings
I currently work in a secondary school as a teacher and as part of the student support team, supporting students both in the classroom and through 1:1 sessions.
This means I see every day what this transition can feel like for young people—the excitement, but also the pressure, uncertainty, and challenges that can come with it.
I work closely with students who are building confidence, navigating friendships, or finding organisation difficult, supporting them in a way that is calm, practical, and encouraging.
Because I’m based within a school setting, I understand how things actually work day to day—what’s expected of students, what can feel overwhelming, and what genuinely helps.
This allows me to support both children and parents in a way that is realistic, relevant, and grounded in real experience—not just theory.

My unique approach to confidence and preparation
What makes Brave Beginnings different is the way it supports both the child and the parent together.
Children are given a calm, supportive space where they can build confidence, develop practical skills, and talk openly about what they’re experiencing.
At the same time, parents are supported with clear, practical guidance—helping them feel more confident in how they support their child day to day.
Because of my experience working within a secondary school, all support is grounded in what actually happens in school—making it realistic, relevant, and immediately useful.
This isn’t about adding pressure or expectations. It’s about creating the right conditions for children to feel secure, grow in confidence, and become more independent.
"Brave Beginnings gave my child the tools to confidently step into secondary school. The support for us as parents was invaluable too!"
A happy parent, County Meath.
